Dripping Bathtub Faucet Double Handle

If you need to repair a leaky bath tub faucet start by turning off the water to your home and opening the hot and cold water valves in your bath to drain any water still in the pipes.

Step 1 turn off the water to the faucet under the sink. Turn on water make sure the handle is in the off position then turn on the water by turning the knob under the sink counter clockwise. Turn faucet handles to the on position to release any residual water. Pry off the handle insert with the thin blade of a pocketknife.

Turn it off and check if the faucet is still leaking. Step 3 a handle screw will now be visible remove the handle screw with a screwdriver. Always replace both seat washers and seats on a double handle faucet. Shut off the water supply to the faucet and open the valves to drain excess water from the system.

Step 2 step 3. Over time corrosion can virtually weld the handle to the stem. To test to make sure the leak is fixed turn on the water and let it run for a minute. Close the drain and place a towel in the sink to protect the surface and catch any dropped parts.

Take off the decorative cap and use a screwdriver to loosen the screws in the center of the handle. To determine the cause of the leak you ll first need to dismantle the faucet. Step 2 use a flat screwdriver and use a prying motion to remove the decorative cap on top of the handle. Once the screws are removed tug on the handle to detach it from the wall.
