My bathroom floor needs some floor leveler well a lot of leveler. Any leveling of the subfloor must be done prior to the installation of the membrane. When i pulled up the contractor grade sheet flooring the leveling material came away in patches. I don t think i can redo the subfloor.

Unlike faye above i know my subfloor is not level. An underlayment is a thin layer of material sandwiched between two other materials. 3 8 cm thick in one pour and seeks its own level in minutes. I plan to use the thinner ditra uncoupling membrane.

The subfloor is 5 8 t g plywood joists 2x12 on 12 centers. Joist spacing single layer osb or plywood subfloor d w19 t 20 ceramic or porcelain tile schluter set schluter all set schluter fast set or unmodified thin set mortar. Use an underlayment floor leveler or floor patch product to fix low spots in a wood or concrete subfloor. Can i use a self leveling product under ditra.

This quick setting underlayment can be applied to 1 5 in. What do ya think. We recommend unmodified thin set mortar on a floor that has been leveled with a self leveling product. Ditra helps with horizontal movement but does nothing for vertical movement which is why your floor needs to be up to snuff before installation.

It is 6 x7 and the floor slopes a quarter inch over the 6 width. It s used to help insulate absorb sound and reduce wear on your floor. So i removed it all to the plywood. The subfloor is 3 4 x 7 tongue and groove plank with some knots set on the diagonal. You might get lucky on the vertical depending on where it happened on the sheet and where the tile lined up but that s just a coincidence not a guarantee. The peel n stick tile i put down cracked within a year. My question is can i install the ditra over the floor leveler or do i put down another layer of plywood 1 4 first.

If i use a self leveler on my plywood subfloor which type of thin set mortar do i used to install schluter ditra or ditra xl.
