Found outside of the reef it resides in soft muddy or sandy substrate and can attain a size of up to 3 feet in diameter. Grecian windflower is available in shades of sky blue pink white or reddish purple depending on the variety. Adhesive anemone cryptodendrum adhaesivum this type of anemone is sometimes sold as the pizza anemone because it has rounded ridged edges that resemble a pizza crust. Most anemones are sessile with a specialized foot used to anchor them in soft substrates or attach themselves to rocks and corals.

Mature height of the tall plant is about 3 feet. They have 120 species with three main types. Grecian windflower this tuberous anemone displays a thick mat of fuzzy leaves. The adhesive anemone is very unique in appearance but it does have a potent sting it may not do much harm to humans but it can be dangerous for certain tank inhabitants.

Silvery pink flowers decorate the plant in late summer and early autumn. Spring flowering tuberous mediterranean and fall flowering. Spring flowering anemones are so called because they bloom in spring. Use caution when introducing anemones into a reef aquarium however as some species are quite mobile and may sting and damage live corals.

Tuberous mediterranean anemones bloom during the spring and summer while fall flowering anemones bloom in late summer to fall and have fibrous roots. Those with very dangerous stings are the stinging sea anemones belonging to the family actinodendronidae.
